By using non-portland Bonhomie Cement, Bonhomie Concrete reduces the embodied CO2 of each m3 of concrete by 61.3% (or by 184.7 kgCO2/m3 for infrastructure concrete) and reduces water-use by 92.1%.
While we are pleased with this huge reduction, we are not content. We are confident with certain models we are developing we will reduce further to around an 80-95% reduction in embodied CO2 emissions in the next 5 years.
ECO-FRIENDLY CONCRETE THAT IS MORE DURABLE
A key factor used in determining the durability of concrete is permeability.
Bonhomie Concrete reduces the permeability to the point (below 1000 Coulombs) where it lasts significantly longer than concrete made with Portland Cement, especially in harsh environments.
A 37% increase in strength from 28 days to 150 days demonstrates that neither shrinkage reducing properties nor compressive properties are negatively affected as crystal lattice structure enters the mature phases of growth. Meaning, Bonhomie Concrete is suitable for high sulphate environments, salt water environments such as sea walls, and more.

For walkable cities, especially those with aging populations, it is important to limit sidewalk cracks and mitigate tripping hazards.
All Ordinary Portland Concrete shrinks as it hydrated and dries. This shrinkage causes cracks and the ends of each concrete panel curl up more and more over time. Bonhomie Concrete has a shrinkage factor that is almost negligible (~0.013% @ 28 days), which means dry shrinkage cracking and curling are virtually eliminated.
